National University International to Offer Seminars and Courses to Educators and Parents of Special Needs Students

NUI Establishes Partnership with NASET to Offer Learning Opportunities for its Members

September 14, 2006

La Jolla, Calif. – In its efforts to support teachers, parents and administrators involved with special needs students, National University International (NUI) has announced that it has made a commitment to developing educational seminars and courses which address issues facing educators in inclusion classrooms.

As part of this commitment, NUI has established a partnership with the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) to offer those seminars and courses to its members, who are encouraged to continue their education to better meet the needs of the exceptional students they serve.

In addition to members of NASET, NUI's seminars and courses will be available to general education and special education teachers, as well as parents of children with special needs. They also will be available to administrators involved with schools and districts with inclusion classrooms.

The goal of the courses will be to provide administrators, educators and parents who work with special needs students with the best practices available to create the least-restrictive learning environments.

Following are some of the topics which will be covered by the seminars and courses:

  • Overview of Special Education: Understanding Children with Disabilities
  • Introduction to Inclusion and Inclusive Classrooms
  • Working with Staff in an Inclusion Setting
  • Preparing to Teach in an Inclusion Classroom
